Devlog 9 - Beta Release


Game Beta

The beta release is now available for download!

Here are all the changes since the last playtest update:

  • A complete tile indication system! Boss attacks will now light up tiles that it will affect in red. This should make the player's experience in reading the boss' attacks a lot better.
  • A new environmental hazard attack that is enabled in the second boss phase. This attack affects random tiles and lingers for a period of time, making those tiles unsafe to step on.
  • A new damage multiplier system! When players move on beat consecutively, they build damage stacks. Moving off beat or taking damage from the boss lowers your stacks by 1. The number of stacks you have affects how much damage you deal to the boss. As long as you're on beat, you will deal good damage. However, if you spam, you'll be hitting the boss for a while.
  • Added fade to black effect between cutscenes and scene changes to make the transition smoother.
  • Updated tutorial sequence.
  • New beat indicator UI to replace the previous beat indicator under the player. When the indicator expands, that is when it is on beat. If the player successfully inputs movement or attack on beat, it will light up green. If not, it will light up red.
  • Animated the intro and victory cutscenes with music and sound effects!
  • Updated the boss model to have limbs in the front as well.
  • Added custom steam VFX that is stylized to better match the patent aesthetic. 
  • The boss now begins to release smoke when its health is low to indicate it is getting worn out.
